Q. I am planning on buying this really awesome phone. But it is not an android phone. I want to know if I can download the android market into it maybe via a microsd card. Is this possible, if so how?
A. Unfortunately, no. For starters, Android Market is designed for Android phones. Therefore, it has to be an Android phone to work. Second of all, the Android Market installer itself is a .apk file which only Android phones can execute. Other phones can't execute these type of files.

Can I fill out applications for scholarships on my android phone?
Q. I don't have the internet at home besides on my android phone. I want to get started on scholarships for college. Should I just wait until I have free time at school and use a computer there?
Also, is fastweb the only website of it's kind?

A. I'm not Android saavy, so if I say something stupid, forgive me. ... lol! :)
It sounds like the Android phone has computer apps on it. When you apply for a scholarship, you usually have to write an essay. Type a generic essay and save it to your computer. E-mail it to yourself, and then you will have it to download to a scholarship application. It would be nice if you could edit the essay by using your phone. Then, you could alter each essay to fit the scholarship.
Good luck with scholarships!
... I'm just sayin'!

How do you send and view text messages on an Android phone?
Q. I know this sounds dumb, but I just got my first smartphone and I'm stumped. I put the SIM card from my old (non-smartphone) phone into the new Android phone. How do I view my old text messages?? And how do you text? Seriously. Can someone give me step by step instructions? It uses a touchscreen.
A. Your old Text Messages are saved to your old phone's internal memory (not to the SIM card/SD Card). There isn't a way to recover these messages.
To text on an android phone:
1) Open up the message application
2) Click on Compose new Message
4) Enter in the contact who you want to send a message to
5) Write your message in the box below where you entered your contact's name
6) click on the send button

How did my android phone calendar appointments make it to my iPad?
Q. I use a GalaxySII android phone and put all my appointments on my phone's calendar. I updated my first generation iPad to IOS5 last week. This morning, I noticed that all my android phone calendar items are now on my iPad calendar. I do not think I did any 'sync' set ups between my phone and iPad (maybe I did something inadvertently). Does anyone know how this sync happened? I don't mind it, just wondering how it works. Thanks for your help!
A. If you had set up a sync option between your phone and your google calender and your iPad and google calander, that would do the trick. See whether that's what happened. If you are new to the android world, I would suggest the amazon ebook: 100 Ways you can use your android device.
